Sacrament and Ritual

Sacrament and Ritual: Like most Protestant denominations, the UCC recognizes two sacraments, baptism and Holy Communion. We also hold other ceremonies traditional to the life of the church.

At Beloved, baptism is available upon request to infants and children whose families wish to initiate them into the family of Christ’s church. Baptism is also available to adults who make this decision for themselves.

We celebrate  Holy Communion regularly on the first Sunday of each month during worship and at other times throughout the year.

Beloved is committed to an open table, where all are invited to participate in the sharing of a meal given by God. There are no barriers to taking  Communion. At the same time, no one is forced to participate. It is your choice.

Communion is a holy mystery, a means of grace that acts on our bodies, hearts, and spirits in ways that we may not understand. Yet together we are strengthened in our faith and nourished for the journey of daily living. We reverently maintain this practice as we meet online during the COVID era because God works through technology too.

We also celebrate weddings, perform memorial services and funerals, and honor the other observances of the Christian year.
